I have an e-book-reader with many many unread books on it. But when I'm e.g. on the underground, taking out and turning on my e-reader would be an extra step, and it's easier to read things on my phone. Which used to be fic, but now I also have the library app on my phone so I can read books I'm currently borrowing from the library. Convenient, but a side-effect is that which books I read next is more often determined by which books I finally got from my wait lists. And sometimes it is almost stressful when I get several at the same time ^^
But they were good books :)

My knee had started hurting as I returned home from Chigasaki, and since Seki canceled our Sunday plan, I just stayed in to heal up. Didn't even go outside. \o/ Bluesky and Raskura reading.

Today I did some food shopping, getting a decent supply of whole wheat and rye bread. Then back to Chigasaki to meet Seki again, and explore a new mall -- he says it opened last week! We ate at a Spaghetti Goemon that isn't even on Google Maps! Otherwise it's not that exciting a mall, but he appreciates having a new restaurant option near him. I appreciated the low CO2 of mall restaurants, especially at 16:00. I had spaghetti with pork shabu-shabu and "lots of vegetables"; it was good but I had to fight my own brain, which kept expecting Italian-ish flavors from a spaghetti dish. ( Read more... )

I did two loads of laundry, hand-washed dishes, ran a load in the dishwasher, went for a walk with Pip and the dogs, cut up chicken for the dogs' meals, changed kitty litter (my funnest Sunday task), and ordered an Etsy GC. I did not have to make supper because it was leftovers from The Bear's.

I made myself cheesy scrambled eggs for breakfast. I think I’ve mentioned that I hate cooking breakfast for myself. I love breakfast foods, though. I think I’ve discovered the secret. Which is to wait a little while until I’m more awake. Like, don’t try to make breakfast as soon as I’m dressed, but wait until I’ve, say, checked my f-list. Once I’m awake, it feels like less of a chore. When I try to do it earlier, my body is like, you made us get up, and now you want us to cook breakfast, too? What kind of insanity is this?!! o_O

I finished reading Killing Floor and watched the Bills’ game. I enjoy a good come-from-behind win, but they need to stop doing this to me. Evening background tv was Secrets of the Zoo.

Temps started out at 18.7(F) and reached 25.0. We were only supposed to get ‘less than an inch’ overnight, but according to Pip it was more like 2-3 inches. It’s not a lot, but enough to make a mess of the driveway and the walking trails, so he was out snow blowing for a while.

Mom Update:

I talked to mom on the phone; she didn’t sound great. My brother had visited and she was watching a Hallmark Christmas movie, but she said her day had just been so-so. I expect she’s not looking forward to her first PT appointment tomorrow (Monday).

Reccer's Notes: When Lan Wangji checks up on Lan Xichen in his seclusion, Wei Wuxian comes along—bringing his idea of a care package. Despite Wangji’s apprehension, the Fires Of Yunmeng Cooking prove just the thing to help his despondent brother come to terms with his complicated feelings about fellow Yunmeng boy Jin Guangyao—prompting memories of their adventures (and meals) together.

(An added bit of poignancy is that Lan Xichen is being served this bittersweet nostalgia by a man who now bears Jin Guangyao a family resemblance.)

:: A young woman is expecting to have the day off work for a nontraditional holiday. There’s enough of a snag that a stranger steps in to ensure that the problem gets cleared up. Part of the Polychrome Heroics universe, and written for the December of 2025 Giftmas event. Many thanks to the prompter for the wonderful idea. ::

“You called me shouting to get in on time today, after I had asked for today off weeks ago,” Summer Longacre declared, crossing her arms next to the small lectern labeled with a crisp sign which read, “Please wait to be seated.”. The name badge pinned on Summer’s uniform shirt held a strip of beige masking tape with her first name written on it in permanent marker.

Elaine didn’t look up. “Everybody works the entire week before Christmas because the diner is closed that day.”

On my way out the door to a vigil for last night's mass casualty incident; today is also the thirteenth anniversary of the Sandy Hook shooting, and there was an antisemitic mass shooting in Bondi Beach, Australia yesterday.

I do not know how I am going to get through this vigil and come home and light my chanukiyah, with its engraving, More life. The great work begins.

I love Joko/Cooper, they have a really fun dynamic that's like "when I like a guy so I have to psychologically torment him about it". I'm always interested in reading about them.
I also just love Travis in general, I think he's a very fun character.
SMPLive's world also has a lot of fun underexplored aspects for worldbuilding both from a metafictional (hits, the wheel, chats and the court system) and fully in-universe (the bread/void/salmon cults, Spawn City's economy, the server cop mechanic) perspective.

I really really badly want to read Poke/James fic, there's like none!! I think they have a really fun dynamic, they're basically inseparable. I would say they're almost like the same mind in two bodies. They are infesting my brain lately.
I think this is my most wanted out of all my requests. There's absolutely no content for this SMP or these guys in general which makes me really sad.
I really like interpreting James as being like, very emotionally reserved and hiding it under being "the funny guy" and "the problem causer".

I am OBSESSED with the dynamic between Travis and Joko in Mirai SMP. They're very "toxic yaoi". However I'm really not a fan of the possession plot twist so please just disregard that entirely!
I would love to see some relationship study on how their roles sort of shift towards the opposite as the game goes on, with Travis hardening up and using his crazy emotional intelligence to read Joko like a book and Joko struggling to keep up his apathetic, intimidating persona.
Especially with how the underlying guilt Travis has with Cooper's death and his falling out with Techno plays into it. Super fascinating stuff.
I'd also really love to read an AU where they win and get out together with their plan to exploit the bounty on Techno.

This series is mostly episodic, so you most likely won't need to watch all of it if you've never watched it.
I have a couple different ideas in mind:
- Building off the SMP and "I raised his property value" where Cooper rebuilds Joko's house in the sky could be fun
- I love the modded episodes, especially the more fantasy-based ones like the Aether and the Twilight Forest ones, I'd love to see something based on one of those with worldbuilding and such
- I really love Travis and there's not a lot of good fic about any of his characters, so anything centered on him would be nice. A lot of stuff writes his characters as naive or childish when he's not and it frustrates me because I love how he's incredibly intelligent and can read people like a book despite his shenanigans. He's kind of a high int low wit type character.
